Should :page be a required parameter?

Reported by Chris Wanstrath | June 21st, 2007 @ 06:33 AM

Is there ever a case where you would call paginate without :page? If not, I say we raise an exception if you don't include it. Too many people getting tripped up.

(from [272]) Will Paginate: the ":page" option is now required for all paginating finders!! Its value can still be nil (it defaults to 1), but its presence is required or an ArgumentError is raised. This is because people forget to write ":page => params[:page]" in their controllers when calling paginating finders, so they get confused why are they stuck on the same page all the time.
