[will_paginate] removing :include can break pagination

Changeset 295 removed the :include clause from the count() query. But what if I used the :included table in my :conditions?

For example:
Topic.paginate :include => :author, :conditions => ["authors.status = ?", 'active'], :page => 1
Or is there a better way to accomplish this sort of thing?
